Where does my business need to be located

All businesses must be based in Birmingham or surrounding areas, for benefit of doubt, the nominee must live or operate a business in any of these postcodes; B, WS, WV, DY, ST, NN, WR, TF, HR, CV.

Can I Win In Multiple Categories?

No, we will contact you if you are nominated across multiple categories.

How Does Voting Work?

Votes are only counted on this website. When voting goes live, you will be able to vote for who you think should be made a finalist.

Do I Have To Be Black?

Nominees must identify as black or mixed black. For benefit of doubt, we classify “Black” as anyone who is African, Caribbean, a descendant of an African/Caribbean person and all African/Caribbean diaspora.

Nominees for The Ally award must not identify as black.

Why Do You Have An Ally Award?

Allies play an important role in advancing the cause of Black-owned businesses. The award recognises non-Black individuals who have shown exceptional support for Black-owned businesses and have contributed to the advancement of Black economic empowerment. The award serves to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion and to encourage individuals of all backgrounds to support Black-owned businesses.

What Does a Standard Ticket include?

Will My Nominee Know I Nominated Them?

You can choose to remain anonymous on the application form.

How Many Times Can I Be Nominated?

You will only be able to be voted for in one category, we will contact you if this is the case for you to decide which category you would like to be recognised in.

When Will My Nominee Be Contacted?

Nominee’s will be contacted after due diligence checks are completed.

Will My Nominee Automatically Enter The Voting Stage?

No. After due-diligence checks, eligible nominees will be contacted. They may be asked to complete an additional questionnaire if enough information wasn’t supplied in the nominee application, in order to ascertain they are eligible.
